My favourite jeans…

We all have a favourite pair of jeans, right? Mine were GAP, fitted a treat, had the right amount of give and so consequently were worn forever. When the inevitable happened I realised I definitely wasn’t a ripped jeans kind of person, preferring warm knees. I did a quick Google to find some simple swallow designs for inspiration, grabbed a little scrap of cotton and some embroidery thread.

I hadn’t used embroidery thread for years so completely forgot to split the thread, this will be quick I thought, making a complete mess. I realised pretty quickly my mistake. It actually didn’t take very long even with the single strands, I started with the swallow and the outside edge, then filling in the sky with no real plan in mind, just doing one small, simple stitch at a time.

One of my early “beautiful repairs” – now needing an extension – any ideas?

I really like the result, it’s not perfect but reflects the hand involved and reminds me of my childhood, my Mum laughing, as the swallows joyfully dive-bombed our much-loved moggy.
